Consignment FAQ

CLICK HERE FOR THE NEW CONSIGNMENT SYSTEM

The consignment area allows people to buy and sell vintage computer related items during our VCF shows. Here is the quick version on how it works:

DROP OFF:

FRIDAY, APRIL 12, 2024 5:00pm until 10:00pm. If you cannot make this time, you may also drop off during the time that consignment is open.

HOURS FOR CONSIGNMENT:

Saturday, April 13th, 2024, 9:00am until 5:00pm – LUNCH BREAK: 1PM to 2PM.

Sunday, April 14th, 2024, 9:00am until 2:00pm

Consignment will be located in building 4 on the location map.

We have a brand new online personal inventory management system for consignment. Please fill it out quickly with all of the items listed that you wish to consign.

Your submitted items populate our point-of-sale inventory as well as generate barcode labels for you to apply to your merchandise upon arrival. You have the option of printing your own labels or print them out when you arrive.

You must collect all of your unsold items on Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm sharp. Failure to pick up your items may result in VCF withholding payment for other items sold and will prevent you from consigning at future VCFs.

Thanks!

    • Visitors to the show (other exhibitors included) will often stop by the consignment area looking for treasure. A VCF volunteer will handle the sales process. If your treasure sells, then VCF will keep 18% of the proceeds and pay the rest to you. The 18% commission goes to supporting VCF activities like our museum, warehouse, outreach events, educating.
    • If there is a free pile, then you must let one of the volunteer staff know that you are putting it there and take home the item(s) by the end of the show.
    • At the end of the show:
      • If your treasure sells we’ll pay you.
      • If your treasure does not sell you have to pick it up and take it home.

Tips for successful consignment sales:

  • This year the item labels we print for you will include price, so separate labeling with item price is not required.
  • Please indicate if the item is working or not, and if there are any known flaws. Known working items will sell for more.
  • Consignment items are sold on an AS-IS basis, and the buyers will be made aware of that.
  • Please price your items reasonably; if you price something too high you will probably have to carry it home.
  • If you need to change the price you, then *must* inform the consignment staff about any prices changes. A new label will be printed for the item(s).
  • You are expected to be able to lift all of your items yourself without help. Don’t bring items that you can’t move yourself.

Tips for successful buying:

  • If you make a pricing deal please contact the seller and have them change the price in the system. They should change the price in the seller’s account.
Vintage Computer Festival Show & Workshop “Event” Code of Conduct
All attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers at our event are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.
Summary
Our event is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate for any event venue, including talks, workshops, exhibits, and associated online media. Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event without a refund at the discretion of the event organizers.
The Less Quick Version
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event with no refund.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the event staff immediately. Event staff can be identified as they’ll be wearing branded Vintage Computer Festival “Staff” or “Show Runner” badges.
The event staff will be happy to help participants contact local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
We expect participants to follow these rules at event and workshop venues and event-related social events.
