Vintage Computer Festival West hasn’t happened since 2007, so we decided to represent next month’s event with a phoenix rising from the magic smoke of a sacrificial vintage computer. 🙂 It’s awesome!

See the Celebration Apple-1 at VCF West
Our friends at CharityBuzz are auctioning what may be the rarest Apple-1 computer in existence. This is an amazing find! It will be on display at Vintage Computer Festival West next month. Come see it for yourself.
Was MS-DOS code copied from CP/M?
Bob Zeidman, a prominent forensic software engineer, found in 2012 that Microsoft’s early versions of MS-DOS did not contain any CP/M code. Microsoft then released DOS source in 2014. Zeidman decided to look again and will announce his findings at Vintage Computer Festival West. Discuss it here.

VCF West exhibit registration deadline
VCF West is Aug. 6-7 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. There are 25 exhibitors so far. Click here to add to that total! The deadline is this Friday at midnight.
Independent festivals coming soon
Here at the VCF mothership we’re focused on Vintage Computer Festival West next month, but there are also some independent shows happening soon. These include VCF Midwest (Chicago) in September and VCF Switzerland in November. Please see the independent festivals page for more information.
Apple II and Sol-20 put the fun in fundraising!
We’re doing some fundraising. We are auctioning a fully working and Woz-autographed straight Apple II and a fully working and Felsenstein-autographed Processor Tech Sol-20. Both computers are SUPER-CLEAN (full details in the listings; monitors not included). Remember, we’re a non-profit and this is a great cause!

VCF West exhibits are filling up
Our resurrection of VCF West (Aug. 6-7, Silicon Valley) has met with resounding success. There are almost a dozen exhibits already and the show is still three months away! Register your hands-on exhibit soon to guarantee your spot. Public tickets are also available online — spend less time at the door and more time enjoying the show!
VCF East in the mirror, VCF Europa this weekend!
Vintage Computer Festival East was awesome. Several hundred people attended. Event staff heard tons of positive remarks about the keynote speakers, the venue’s new (Federation-run) computer museum, and the quality of the show exhibits.
