LEVELS OF VOLUNTEERS

We have two levels of volunteers, based on the amount of time you are able to commit.

  • General Volunteers help with any of a variety of tasks on any element of the show, on one or more days, with a total of 5 hours minimum.
  • Dedicated Volunteers could help in a variety of tasks similar to a General Volunteer, but typically this level of volunteer helps in one specific element of the show (such as in Consignment) and with a total of 15 hours minimum.

BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING

In addition to the warm and fuzzy feeling you will have for volunteering to help a great non-profit like the Vintage Computer Federation put on an outstanding annual show, you will receive these benefits:

General Volunteers:

  • An event t-shirt in your chosen size

Dedicated Volunteers:

  • An event t-shirt in your chosen size
  • Free admission to the event, for 3 days
  • Reimbursement for one hotel night at the Atlantic Inn and Suites

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

There are volunteer opportunities available to help overall in general tasks in planning and running the show, and also the opportunity to help with one of the specific tasks listed below. Both General Volunteers and Dedicated Volunteers may select whatever tasks(s) you would like to help with.

GENERAL TASKS:

  • Help with general non-specific tasks before, during and after the event. [30 needed]

Pre-show general tasks include:

  • Planning of all the event elements
  • Setup tables, chairs, tablecloths, signs
  • Move items from building to building where needed

During the show general tasks include:

  • People management
  • Introduce speakers

Post-event general tasks include:

  • Stack/move tables, chairs, beds
  • Take down tablecloths, swag, signs
  • Move items to the warehouse

SPECIFIC TASKS:

Entry Gates: During the show: help manage admission to the site; sell tickets. [4 needed]

Parking: During the show: help control traffic at the Drop-Off area; direct visitors to the different parking lots. [3 needed]

Front Desk: During the show: help with the front desk admission and swag sales. [5 needed]

Exhibits: Help to organize the exhibitors before and during setup of the show. [2 needed]

ConsignmentPre-show: help to organize and setup the consignment section.  During the show: help with administration and consignment sales.  Post-show: help to breakdown the consignment area. [12 needed]

Audio/VisualHelp with the video recording of the talks and different parts of the show. [7 needed]

Custodian: During the show: remove trash; maintain bathrooms.  [1 needed]

DATES

The main setup day is Thursday (4/3) 10AM to 10PM.
Additional setup days are Monday (3/31), Tuesday (4/1), Wednesday (4/2).

The show dates are:
Friday, April 4:   7:30 AM to 5 PM
Saturday, April 5:   7:30 AM to 5 PM
Sunday, April 6:   7:30 AM to 2 PM

VOLUNTEER PROCESS

  1. Complete the VCF East Volunteer Registration form.
  2. Within 2-5 days we will send you an acknowledgement of your kind offer to volunteer.
  3. You will be contacted with details of when/where/what to do next by one of our volunteer coordinators.
