VCF West — Consignment
Note: Consignment is open during show hours only with the first hour of each day reserved for setup. Consignment load-in may be done in advance, but no sales until the consignment area is open.
Consignment load-in is Thursday (for 2023) after 5PM and each show day before the show opens (10AM on Friday, 9AM on Saturday) and for the first hour of the show. That hour will be used to sign in any new items and to make sure sales items are properly tagged, etc.
Consignment will close for sales at 3:30PM on Saturday for payout.
The consignment area allows people to buy and sell vintage computer related items during our VCF shows. Here is the quick version on how it works:
If you are interested in selling items, then please e-mail consign-west@vcfed.org. You will receive a response that will give you a private Google Sheet to set up your consignment items.
Consignment forms should be completed by Thursday, August 3 at 12:00 noon. Any submissions after this cutoff may not be available for sale at the beginning of the show. Because these forms must be loaded into the Point of Sale system, we cannot add new items on the fly. We will be loading in the morning on each show day and once more during the day. As such, please plan accordingly and please try to list all of your consignment items in advance of the show.
DROP OFF:
Consignment items may be dropped off on Thursday during load-in or on the mornings of the show before Consignment opens. Additional items may be brought in during the day, but we cannot guarantee that those items will be entered into the Point of Sale system immediately.
All consignment items must be brought in via the loading dock and the nearby freight elevator. Please do not use the CHM public entrance or the CHM elevator to load in any items.
We also ask that you refrain from bringing large items in during show hours as carts can be a danger and a distraction to VCF visitors.
HOURS FOR CONSIGNMENT:
Friday August 4th, 2023, 11:00am until 5:00pm
Saturday, August 5th, 2023, 10:00am until 3:30pm
Consignment will be located at the top of the stairs from the CHM entrance in both classrooms as well as the space beyond them.
Visitors to the show (other exhibitors included) will often stop by the consignment area looking for treasure. A VCF volunteer will handle the sales process. If your treasure sells, then VCF will keep 18% of the proceeds and pay the rest to you. The 18% commission goes to supporting VCF activities. Please note, we have made a modest increase to this fee to cover our increased costs in putting on the VCF Shows.
We will email you the consignment sale Google Sheet, as soon as possible. Please fill it out quickly with all of the items listed that you wish to consign or you fill out the Google Sheet on our laptop at the consignment location where you drop off your items. Priority will be given to submissions received earlier.
Your submitted Google sheet will be used to populate our point-of-sale inventory as well as generate barcode labels for you to apply to your merchandise upon arrival.
You must collect all of your unsold items on Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm sharp. Failure to pick up your items may result in VCF withholding payment for other items sold.
Thank you!
Tips for successful consignment sales:
- Items should have prices clearly labeled.
- Consignment sheets clearly filled out.
- Please indicate if the item is working or not, and if there are any known flaws. Known working items will sell for more.
- Consignment items are sold on an AS-IS basis, and the buyers will be made aware of that.
Please price your items reasonably; if you price something too high you will probably have to carry it home. - We might have power available for testing or powering systems up. Assume that an interested buyer will want to power something up to see if it works. If you do not want power applied to an item please let us know.
